About 500 years ago and during the subsequent centuries it was general practice and completely normal to look at food and remedies as a unity and not treat them as two different subjects. Nowadays this is not common practice anymore, although it would be very much to everyone´s advantage.
This is well expressed in the famous quotation by Paracelsus (doctor, alchemist, mystic and philosopher):
"Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food."
(Paracelsus 1494-1541)
With this statement Paracelsus quoted Hippocrates (460 – 370 B.C.).
The central question is: How can the union of food and remedies be restored in our time?
„An illness can have many fathers, but food is always the mother.“
(Chinese saying)
